Creeper Trail Bike Ride

The Willing Workers recently hosted the youth on a bike ride at the Virginia Creeper Trail.  They didn’t let the threat of bad weather stop them from having a great time.

Bring A Friend!

It’s shoebox kick-off time at the Forge!! Come on Sunday night, Oct 11th @ 6pm and be a part of our 4th annual shoebox drive!! Our goal for this year will be announced Sunday night.

Fields of Faith will be at Unaka High School on October 17th at 6:30 PM (gates will open @ 5:30).  Click the link for more info on this nationwide event.  Students invite their own classmates and teammates to hear fellow students share their testimonies, be challenged to read the Word of God and follow Jesus Christ.  Pastor Mark Potter will be speaking at the event.  Bring a chair (if you want) and bring a friend.  This is a community wide event, not just UHS students.

Tonight was the Youth Sunday for September.  We had the ACT Class skit showing a family portrait with and without Jesus.  We could all see the difference He makes!

We had a group of 10 go to the Northeast Correctional Complex for a day of softball and ministry.  We lost the first game 55-17!  That is not a typo.  We didn’t let that loss or the bad weather stop us from spending time with the inmates to let them know that they are not forgotten and they are still loved by us and most importantly God.  They had a great time and told us they’d never forget the games we had when the rain was pouring down.  We made contacts that we can continue to minister to and encourage.

Ephesians 4:32 (King James Version) And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

The September Youth Rally was tonight with a great turnout.  We had an outdoor tailgate party.  Bobbie Blevins and her college roommate Ashley were the guest speakers, teaching us about being on the team of Christianity.  We had a cookout with hamburgers, hotdogs, and deep fried Oreos and Twinkies!!

The purpose of “Pledge2Purity” is to raise awareness and commitment among teens regarding the importance of purity in all areas of their life and to help connect teens and their parents to regional ministries, churches and resources that provide services and encouragement that will support their pledge to purity.

ACT Camping

The ACT class enjoyed a camping trip to Paris Mountian State Park, Greenville, South Carolina over the Labor Day Weekend.

The class also did some local mission work while on their camping trip. The ACT girls sponsored a lunch and had an afternoon of scrapbooking with the ladies at the Miracle Hills Renewal Center in Greenville. Later in the afternoon on Saturday, the ACT class ministered to the Miralcle Hills Boy’s Shelter. The boys shelter joined the class at the campground for an evening of playing ball, having dinner, devotions and worship.
