Valentines Day is without a doubt the holiday of love. However, while most were buying candies, balloons and roses, the ACT mission team was focusing on sharing a love that surpasses the rest: God’s love. We knew the night would be long and tiring, but we were determined to serve. The night was fun and full of teamwork as well as plenty of hard work. Besides the baked potato drought, everything ran smoothly.
The goal for the night was originally set at $2,380, but it was suggested we shoot for the stars with a goal of $2,500. By ten o’clock that night, we had raised $3,466 just in donations. God has blessed our team with so much. Greater things are still to be done by the ACTs to further His kingdom and to bring Him glory.

Isaiah 65:17 -For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.
We had this verse in bible study last night and it blessed my heart. God says, behold (we learned several weeks ago in the ACT class, this means, look, see with your own eyes), ” I am creating new heavens and a new earth”. The verse continues to say, you will not remember the old nor will it be able to come to your mind. God is going take our past from us and it will not even come into our mind. This promise brings such great joy to know there will be a day that we will not be able to remember nor will it even come to our minds to remember. The memory of the old past can bring us down sometimes. But until Christ returns and this new heavens and a new earth are created, then what do we do with the things of our mind.
How do we deal with “memories” of our past brought into the forefront of our mind? There are several things that I do that help me. Of course, we should pray and read our bibles, but how should we pray? When this stuff keeps nagging at us, pray specifically for a clearing of your mind. How should we read our bibles? We have to fall in love with His Word, but we also have to be specific with the scripture. Have scripture ready that brings you comfort when you need it, brings you peace when you need it, brings you encouragement when you need it (Romans 15:4). Let the scripture remind you of your future and the promises of God. A friend told me one time that when you can’t pray, and you can’t get alone with your bible, speak the name of Jesus over and over. That song is not wrong, “in the name of Jesus, we have the victory”, so speak it!
