The Real Event was a fantastic time in Lord!!! Friday night sessions with parents invited took place at First Christian Church and Saturday was exclusively for youth here at “The Forge”. It was an exciting life challenging gathering for teens in our community with great sessions, Praise and Worship and yummmmmy food! Courtenay Bowser, TV host of cutting edge reality shows: “Real Girls, Real Life” and “Ultimate Choice” along with Dr. Drew Edwards, Educator and Behavioral Therapist, led sessions that offered practical advice on topics such as: Relationships, Life choices, Character builiding and more. Valley Forge Drama Team did the best job ever performing the Spirit-Filled “Set Me Free” Drama.

The ACT Mission Team has been working hard to raise money for their trip to NYC.  Don’t forget to let Curtis know if they can help you out around your house!

Each mission trip I try and focus on one thing to bring back. This mission trip I noticed a few different things but the one I focused on the most was my prayer life. One of the missions we worked with was the Raven, that is connected with the Time Square Church, which is a food mission that goes out and feeds. Before we would go out and feed they would always have a worship service for us. We would then prayer and head out to the place we was feeding. When they would prayer it was awesome I noticed that when they would pray it was as if they was crying out to God to come help them, guide them, or whatever they was praying for at that time. I thank God that he has showed me though this trip that I need to work on my prayer life and that he has showed me different things each mission trip I do go on.

Becca Odom:

what i really brought back this year was ministry. on the trips i’ve been on, we painted houses and tried to show people God’s love, but i’ve never been on a mission trip where we really talked and prayed with people like we did this year. i used to feel like i didn’t know enough to really talk to people about God. i thought they would expect me to know all the answers and that i would mess up. on this trip i was asked to pray with a man who was homeless and on drugs, and at first i felt like i was in over my head. i learned that you don’t have to know everything; people don’t expect you to. all they want is for people to care and show God’s love. it showed me that no matter how unqualified you may feel, you can still point people to Jesus.

I think this pictures sums’ up the mission trip for Kathy and I. This was around 9:30 or 10:00 PM Wednesday. We have just finished an evening with Time Square Churches Raven Ministry. Half of the group went to a hotel that housed a program for men that were homeless on 35th street off Broadway. The remainder of the group went to the corner of 34th and Broadway and handed out tracks. I must admit the people Monday night on 144th street in Harlem were more receptive of us that the people on 34th in Manhattan.
I cannot say enough good things about the people in the Raven Ministry. They have a heart for the downtrodden and the lost. They are without a doubt doing what they do for the right reason. PRAISE GOD for ministries like Raven.

Thanks to Becca Odom for all these pictures!!

The May Youth Rally was wednesday night at the picnic area.  Daniel Rose taught a great lesson about repentance.  The praise team helped us worship the Lord in song.  Julie and Daniel acted out a skit to go along with the lesson for the night.  We also saw Joseph get zapped repeatedly by a fly swatter while trying to read the announcements.  Thanks to everybody who helped out!!
